Deputies rescue driver from high water in West Lafayette

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — A woman whose vehicle became stranded in high water has been rescued by Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

WLFI-TV reports that the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on a stretch of roadway near River Bend Hospital in West Lafayette. The road is currently closed because of high water.

Deputies used a bus to get to the vehicle. One of them wore an ice suit to get to the woman and carry her back to the bus.

The sheriff’s office is reminding drivers to find a different route instead of trying to travel through high water.
