INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Eleven people have been arrested on federal charges alleging they ran a violent drug-trafficking operation that funneled heroin and methamphetamine from Arizona to Indiana.

U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler said Wednesday that one of those arrested, 31-year-old David McMichel, ran the ring from his Indianapolis home while serving a sentence on house detention.

McMichel and the others face federal drug trafficking charges. Two other individuals remain at large.

The suspects allegedly moved heroin and meth to Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and other locations. Their arrests followed a nine-month investigation that confiscated 19 firearms, $160,000 in cash and several pounds of drugs.

Minkler says a wiretap recorded McMichel ordering shootings and stating he had a “list a block long” of competitors he wanted dead.

It wasn’t immediately clear if McMichel has an attorney.
