CLARKS HILL, Ind. (AP) — The National Weather Service says two tornadoes caused some building damage near Lafayette as a wave of storms with strong winds and heavy rain moved across much of Indiana.

Weather service staffers determined Saturday both tornadoes with wind speeds nearly 100 mph hit near the town of Clarks Hill in southeastern Tippecanoe County about 4:30 p.m. Friday. Some homes and garages were damaged and several trees blown down in the area, but no injuries were reported.

The storms dumped nearly 3.5 inches of rain Friday at the Indianapolis International Airport. That heavy rainfall caused scattered street flooding in Indianapolis, including swamping a shopping plaza on the city’s west side that had to shut down as water began rushing from the parking lot into the stores.
