Woman, 53, dies in house explosion in northern Indiana

MEDARYVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities have identified a woman who died in a house explosion in northern Indiana.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says the house in Medaryville exploded Saturday morning, and firefighters tried to put out the blaze for several hours. A body of a woman was found inside, and she was identified Monday by authorities as 53-year-old Nancy Jendrasziewicz.

An autopsy says the woman died of smoke inhalation.

A cat was found alive in the home and was turned over to Pulaski County Animal Control.

The home was destroyed. Investigators say they suspect a propane leak was behind the explosion.
