Michiana gas prices expected to jump at least 20 cents again

For the second time in a week, gas prices in Michiana are jumping, and this time they’re expected to get to the highest price of 2016 so far.

GasBuddy issued a spike alert Tuesday afternoon, May 17, warning drivers that gas stations could soon be charging about 22 cents more per gallon of a gas within the next day.

The final average price is expected to be around $2.45 in northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan, Patrick DeHaan, a GasBuddy analyst, tweeted. This comes after gas prices spiked from about $2 per gallon to $2.21 per gallon a week ago.

DeHaan blames the latest spike on after effects from price increases of big crude oil and wholesale gas prices last week.
