Denise Bohn Stewart remembered for her laughter, strength and zest for life

Those who knew and loved Denise Bohn Stewart admired her for her tenacious spirit and zest for life, especially after fighting and beating breast cancer.

Bohn Stewart was shot by her husband Eric Stewart at their home in St. Joseph, Mich., on Tuesday, April 17. He then took his own life.

Their three young children were not hurt and are staying with family.

The people who knew her best said they admired her for her laugh and positivity.

“We’re going to miss her at our neighborhood parties. She was always instrumental,” Marilyn Strefling, a neighbor, told our news partners ABC 57. “My husband having gone through cancer treatment, so we had spoken about that from time to time as well.”

She was well known throughout Michiana because of her work in local media. She was the co-host of the Denise and Jonny In The Morning Show on 98.3 The Coast and was the news anchor for WSJM, both radio stations based in St. Joseph. Before that, she spent years working as a reporter and anchor for WSBT in South Bend.

Her friends, loved ones and fans shared their memories and photographs of Bohn Stewart on social media. Read their touching tributes below.
