Michigan woman dead after being hit by police car in Benton Harbor

A 48-year-old Hartford, Mich., woman died after she was hit by a police car while she was crossing the street in Benton Harbor, Mich., on Sunday night, Sept. 20.

Kimberly Bedford was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office.

Bedford was crossing the street in the 1200 block of Pipestone Road around 9 p.m. when she was struck by a patrol car driven by Patrolman Eugene Anderson, who was responding to a report of a domestic disturbance.

Bedford was in the far right northbound lane when the collision happened.

Anderson is on paid administrative leave pending the investigation, which is ongoing.
