Approximately 4,304 people in LaPorte and St. Joseph counties in Indiana and Berrien County in Michigan are without power Thursday morning, July 30.

The largest outage is in Berrien County, where 2,674 were without power as of 10:03 a.m. That outage was caused by an issue at the substation, according to Indiana Michigan Power spokesman Michael Bianski. A servicer is on the way to the scene, but I&M staff are working to switch customers over to other circuits in the mean time.

Customers should have power restored by 1 p.m., Bianski said.

A broken pole in the Jackson Road area caused 1,441 people to be without power on the south side of South Bend. Power was restored to about 800 customers, but there are still about 600 without power. All customers should have power restored by 1:30 p.m.

A little after 10 a.m., a second power outage in St. Joseph County caused about 2,600 customers in Granger to lose power, Bianski said. Crews are on scene working to determine what happened.

In LaPorte County, a power outage affecting 186 has been cleared up and power is back on.
