Cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy found in car during traffic stop, police say

Two people were arrested after police found cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy in a vehicle during a traffic stop in Middlebury.

Eric Veldman, 23, of Granger, and 20-year-old Jamie Appleman of South Bend were arrested near Warren and State streets in Middlebury, as reported by 95.3 MNC’s news partners The Elkhart Truth.

Police pulled over the vehicle driven by Veldman for driving recklessly, The Truth reported. While searching the vehicle, they also found a handgun that Veldman didn’t have a permit for.

Veldman faces preliminary felony charges of dealing ecstasy, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, as well as preliminary misdemeanor charges of dangerous possession of a handgun with no permit, possession of marijuana and two counts of dealing marijuana.

Appleman faces a preliminary felony charge for possession of cocaine and preliminary misdemeanor charges for possession of marijuana, possession of synthetic marijuana and dealing marijuana or synthetic marijuana.
