Elkhart man arrested in connection to shooting in Elkhart near Indiana Avenue and Kinzy Street

A 34-year-old Elkhart man was arrested Monday, June 15, on a preliminary charge of attempted murder.

Andrew Armstrong is suspected of shooting another 34-year-old man in the leg on Wednesday morning, June 10, in the area of East Indiana Avenue and Kinzy Street in Elkhart, according to Sgt. Chris Snyder with the Elkhart Police Department.

The victim drove himself to Elkhart General Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Armstrong is being held at the Elkhart County Jail without bond, Snyder said. Formal charges had not been filed as of 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to online court records.
