Naked guy walks down the street Thursday morning after passing mental illness evaluation

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. — A 32-year-old New Buffalo man was arrested Thursday morning, May 27, after police found him walking naked in public in St. Joseph.

Malik Nisar was found by police walking nude in the center lane of Niles Avenue near Botham Avenue at about 9:49 a.m., according to a news release from the St. Joseph Public Safety Department. Nisar was charged with indecent exposure, a misdemeanor, and taken to the Berrien County Jail. He could spend up to one year in jail if convicted.

Nisar told police that he had recently admitted himself to a hospital for a mental evaluation, but was released when doctors determined he wasn’t mentally ill, according to the news release. He told police that he wanted to go back, so he decided to walk nude down the street.
