Funeral for Lt. Geoff Forizs set for Thursday morning, procession likely to cause traffic disruptions

The funeral service for South Bend Police Lt. Geoff Forizs is set for 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, at Bubb Funeral Home on Main Street in Mishawaka.

The 25-year-veteran of the force lost his battle with cancer on Friday, May 15, which was also his 60th birthday.

The service is expected to last about an hour, according to Capt. Phil Trent with the South Bend Police Department.

Following the service, there will be a procession to the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Western Avenue and Pine Road, west of South Bend.

The procession will travel down Main Street to Jefferson Boulevard to Eddy Street. From Eddy Street, the procession will go to Sample Street to Mayflower Road. The procession will then turn on to Western Avenue to the cemetery at Pine Road.

This procession is expected to be very large and will likely cause traffic disruptions.
