Vote on whether to ban drivers from using hands-on cellphones in South Bend tabled

A bill that would ban drivers from using a hands-on cellphone while behind the wheel in South Bend has yet to be decided, as reported by South Bend Tribune.

South Bend Common Council members tabled the expected vote during their meeting Monday night, April 27, for additional time to research the issue.

One of their concerns is whether the proposed ordinance would actually be enforced by police, the Tribune reported.

A vote is expected to take place May 26.
