Body found in woods near McKinley Avenue and Bittersweet Road identified

Today police released the identity of a body found in a wooded area near Bittersweet Road and McKinley Highway last Friday, April 24. 

The body was identified as Carl E. Forrest, 46, of Mishawaka, according to St. Joseph County Police. Forrest was reported to St. Joseph County Police as a missing person on Feb. 6, 2015.

An autopsy was conducted earlier today; preliminary results do not suggest any criminal activity related to the man’s death, according to the release.

The body, which had been there “for some time” was found by an adult couple who were on a walk, according to a release from the St. Joseph County Police Department.
