Elkhart County residents can breathe a sigh of relief…and breathe cleaner air as well.

A potential crisis was averted when a hauler truck caught fire atop the Elkhart County Landfill on C.R. 7 shortly before noon Wednesday. The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department says the fire started in the truck.

The Concord Fire Department had the fire put out within minutes and the fire was contained to the truck itself.

No one was hurt and operations at the landfill were not impacted.
