South Bend man accused of drunk driving more than 80 mph in the city

A South Bend man was arrested for drunk driving and speeding after an officer clocked him driving 81 mph in a 30 mph zone late Wednesday night, March 18, according to a news release form Indiana State Police.

ISP Trooper Arthur Smith tried to stop 28-year-old Patrick Chatman Jr. on Ironwood Drive on the south side of South Bend, according to the news release.

Chatman continued driving for several blocks before stopping at a liquor store in the Southland Plaza on Ireland Road.

Chatman was arrested on preliminary chargers of operating while intoxicated with a BAC of .15 percent or more and reckless driving and was cited for improper passing and failure to signal a turn.
