Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend opens for 2015 season on April 3

The Potawatomi Zoo officially opens for the season at 10 a.m. Friday, April 3, just in time for Easter and spring breaks for many area schools.

More than 400 different animal species are featured at the zoo, including rare and endangered species. New animals added to the zoo this year include painted dogs, Chinese alligators, baby Blanding’s turtles and lesser hedgehog tenrecs.

Potawatomi Zoo is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, including weekends and holidays. 

Admission is $9.50 for adults, $7.50 for children ages 3 to 14 and seniors age 62 and older and free for children 2 and younger.

Potawatomi Zoo is located at 500 S. Greenlawn Ave., South Bend.
