ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) — A central Indiana man has pleaded guilty in a case accusing him of trying to cause his pregnant girlfriend to have a miscarriage by poisoning her.

The Herald Bulletin reports that 25-year-old Jarod Rebuck of Elwood entered a guilty plea Monday to a charge of attempted feticide. Under the terms of a plea deal, his conviction will be expunged if he successfully completes treatment assigned by the mental health court.

Police arrested Rebuck in December after his girlfriend notified them of a strange odor emitting from a drink he prepared for her. She also discovered digital evidence that he was searching on ways to cause a miscarriage.

According to Madison County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Rosemary Khoury, the woman said she is in favor of the plea agreement, which also includes a no contact order between the couple.
