Elderly man located after empty boat found floating on St. Joseph River

An elderly man was found after he may have fallen off of his boat in the St. Joseph River on Wednesday morning, June 17.

The Mishawaka Fire Department began searching the river near Merrifield Park in Mishawaka after a boat was found floating empty on the river, according to a tweet from the department.

A witness told firefighters that an elderly man was holding on to the boat. The man was soon found walking near the Eberhart-Petro Municipal Golf Course, according to a tweet from the department.

The man was checked out for injuries.
