Two hospitalized after single-vehicle crash in Dowagiac

Two people were taken to a hospital after a single-vehicle crash in Dowagiac, Mich., on Thursday afternoon, June 25.

A 34-year-old LaPorte man was driving a van west on M-60 when he had a medical emergency and lost consciousness, according to a news release from the St. Joseph County (Michigan) Sheriff’s Department.

The van left the road and struck a tree, then rolled onto its side and hit more trees. The cargo in the van shifted forward into the front of the van during the crash.

The driver was taken to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich. The front seat passenger was taken to Three Rivers (Michigan) Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
