Gov. Mike Pence orders investigation of Planned Parenthood in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Gov. Mike Pence has directed the state Department of Health to investigate Planned Parenthood facilities in Indiana in cooperation with the Indiana attorney general to see if organs from aborted fetuses are being sold.

Pence said Indiana residents should be troubled by allegations after an anti-abortion group circulated a video it made secretly showing a Planned Parenthood official discussing the disposal of body parts from aborted fetuses.

Pence said he has notified county prosecutors in Marion, Monroe, Tippecanoe and Lake counties about the investigation. Those are counties in Indiana where abortions are performed in Planned Parenthood facilities.

Planned Parenthood has said it legally helps women who want to make not-for-profit donations of their fetus’ organs for scientific research. It says it makes no money by donating the organs to science.
