One person killed in early morning shooting in downtown South Bend

One person has died in a shooting in downtown South Bend.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, near the intersection of Lasalle and Lafayette, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57 News.

Police taped off several areas near that intersection, according to WSBT.

A green SUV covered in tarps was parked at a gas station where officers with St. Joseph County Metro Homicide were conducting their investigation. The tarps were removed from the SUV after a funeral home van left the scene, ABC 57 reported.

Across the street from the gas station, investigators were seen examining another vehicle, WSBT reported.
