Dowagiac man arrested after breaking into woman's home early Sunday morning, police say

A Dowagiac, Mich., man was arrested after police say a woman woke up to find the man standing in her bedroom early Sunday morning, Aug. 9.

The 32-year-old man, who was an acquaintance of the victim, was found sleeping in his vehicle a short distance away from the woman’s Howard Township home after she called police, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman awoke at about 4:02 a.m. and saw a man she knew standing in her room. The man had climbed through her bathroom window. The woman kicked the man, according to the news release, and he ran to the same window, stole some personal hygiene products and left the home.

Those products were found in the man’s vehicle when he was located nearby.

The suspect’s name is being held pending arraignment.
