Life-size cutouts of Pope Francis pop up in Philadelphia ahead of U.S. visit

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Pope Francis isn’t scheduled to touch down in the U.S. until September, but locals and tourists already are getting a chance to see him.

Cutouts of the pontiff are popping up everywhere across the Philadelphia area. Just like the real pope, the replica draws people in.

Pope Francis is scheduled to visit Philadelphia Sept. 26-27 for the World Meeting of Families, a Catholic conference designed to bring families closer together.

The World Meeting of Families staff is giving people the chance to take photos with the cutout, helping build excitement ahead of his visit.

They are encouraging people to post their pictures on social media sites using the hashtag #PopeinPhilly, or #WMF2015, so they can spread the word before he arrives.
