Football fight between Washington, Michigan City high school players to be reviewed by IHSAA on Tuesday

Officials from South Bend Washington and Michigan City are expected to meet with leaders of the Indiana High School Athletic Association on Tuesday, Aug. 25, regarding the fight that erupted on the football field during the schools’ game on Friday, Aug. 21, at Michigan City.

Reports about the fight filed from both schools are expected to be reviewed, according to the South Bend Tribune.

Washington was leading the game shortly before halftime when a Washington defensive player was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for a late hit on a Michigan City player.

Players started shoving each other and it quickly escalated into a fight between a swarm of players on both teams.

The IHSAA will not announce any sort of decision about discipline until at least midweek.
