Two men arrested on attempted murder charges after early morning car chase, gunfire

Two men have been arrested and another man is in critical condition after a shooting just after 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, Sept. 6.

A car chase between the suspects ensured after a fight at the Rumbas Bar in South Bend with occupants of one car firing into the other as they drove westbound on Sample Street near the intersection of Olive Street, according to the affidavit for probable cause sent to 95.3 MNC by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

The 19-year-old victim was struck by at least one bullet and was taken to the hospital by friends, the prosecutor’s office reported.

Juventin Vargas-Rodriguez, 20, and Ricardo Ramirez, 21, were arrested and charged with attempted murder. Bond for both men is set at $100,000 corporate surety or $10,000 cash.
