11-year-old girl injured in hit-and-run crash reported in Elkhart on Tuesday night

An 11-year-old Elkhart girl was treated at a hospital after police say she was hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday night, Sept. 8.

The girl was rollerblading at the Arbors at Riverbend apartment complex on Ash Road at about 5:25 p.m. Tuesday when she went off the sidewalk and into the path of a vehicle, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

The vehicle hit the girl and then the male driver drove away. More details about the vehicle were not provided.

The girl was treated for leg pain and bleeding on her face at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.
