CARMEL, Ind. (AP) — Federal agents have searched the suburban Indianapolis home of the CEO of a company that operates dozens of nursing homes across Indiana.

Several FBI and IRS agents spent several hours Tuesday at the Carmel home of American Senior Communities CEO James Burkhart. Agents also removed several boxes of materials from the company’s Indianapolis headquarters.

Indianapolis FBI office spokeswoman Wendy Osborne says she couldn’t disclose the nature of the investigation. No arrests or charges were immediately announced.

In a statement released through attorney Larry Mackey, American Senior Communities CEO James Burkhart said the company will be “an active partner” with the government in the investigation.

The company operates several nursing homes for the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County, which said it was aware of Burkhart being investigated and was cooperating with authorities.
