Hometown Heroes: Jackie Lakey is an advocate for victims of crime in Elkhart County

News/Talk 95.3 Michiana’s News Channel and Martin’s Super Markets are honoring our Hometown Heroes this fall and we’ve chosen our third honoree.

Jackie Lakey is a victim advocate at the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office and has been a mentor for Megan Shears. Megan nominated Jackie. Here’s what she wrote about her:

Jackie goes above and beyond for victims of crime in our community. She genuinely cares for the people she interacts with and is always friendly and cordial to all people. She has been my mentor since I began working as a Victim Advocate in November of 2013. She has been a source of support and encouragement to me and other coworkers. Many people in the community know her and would agree that she is most definitely a Hometown Hero.

Thank you for showing such compassion to victims of crime in our community. Congratulations on being named our third Hometown Hero!

News/Talk 95.3 MNC will name one hero a week for the next seven weeks and we’re still accepting submissions. Nominate your Hometown Hero today.
