Elkhart woman killed in crash along County Road 4 near County Road 11 near Elkhart

An Elkhart woman died after driving her car off the road, then hitting a creek embankment.

The crash happened just after 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, on CR 4 west of CR 11, according to a news release from The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

Darci E. Long, 32, drove off the north shoulder of the road, rolled over, and collided into the creek embankment about 70 feet off the north side of the road, according to the news release.

Long was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Osolo EMS, the news release states.

The crash is under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department Crash Investigation Team and the Coroner’s Office.
