Indiana teen watching TV is dead after car strikes home

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities say a 16-year-old Indiana boy is dead after a vehicle crashed into the home where he was watching television.

The Jay County Sheriff’s Department says the 47-year-old driver, Bryce Paxon, lost control of his vehicle and drove into the house, killing the teen and injuring his 10-year-old step-brother. The crash happened late Friday in the Pennville area of Jay County.

Authorities say Paxon has been taken into custody on preliminary charges that he drove while intoxicated and caused death. It was immediately unclear if Paxon had an attorney and a listed phone number could not be located Sunday.

The teen was identified as area high school student Seth L. Corwin. A vigil in his honor was planned for Sunday.
