Leaf burning amnesty week set for end of November, beginning of December in St. Joseph County

St. Joseph County residents living in unincorporated parts of the county can legally burn their leaves at the end of November.

Burn amnesty week is set for Nov. 30 through Dec. 6.

County residents cannot burn if they live within 200 feet of another home or if they live within city limits.

Residents who burn leaves should only burn dry leaves in small piles. Gasoline or other flammable liquids shouldn’t be used.

If a fire gets out of control, residents should immediately call 911.

St. Joseph County residents can see the dates for leaf pickup for their neighborhood on the St. Joseph County Curbside Leaf Pickup program’s website.
