MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a massive police search of a rural central Indiana property was prompted by an informant telling investigators that a body was buried there and linked to a deceased marijuana distributor.

Delaware County court documents released Monday cite an informant saying he believed a backhoe he delivered to the property near the community of Wheeling about a dozen years ago was used to bury a slain man. The documents say the property owner distributed about 6,000 pounds of marijuana annually before moving to Panama and dying in 2012.

Investigators used a cadaver dog and dug holes during a three-day search that ended Saturday without finding remains. The Star Press reports authorities seized several safes.

Deputy Prosecutor Eric Hoffman tells WTHR-TV that the informant gave a specific burial site.
