Car being pursued by police crashes into 2nd car, killing 1

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis police say a stolen car being chased by an officer collided with another car, killing a passenger in that vehicle.

Police spokesman Officer Christopher Wilburn says an officer began the pursuit Tuesday night after noticing a Chevy Malibu’s license plate didn’t match that vehicle, which turned out to be stolen.

The officer tried to pull the car over but its driver sped away and crashed into a Ford Mustang after careening through an Interstate 70 entrance ramp.

A man riding in the Mustang was killed instantly. The Mustang’s driver survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

Wilburn tells The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/1SjS6v0 ) the Malibu’s driver “is solely responsible” for the deadly crash. He says that motorist told emergency responders he was under the influence of heroin, methamphetamine and other illegal narcotics.
