Police arrest 4 youths for tossing objects onto I-94

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (AP) — Indiana State Police say charges are pending against four juveniles arrested in connection with objects being thrown from an overpass onto Interstate 94 and causing 17 crashes.

Police say the four youths were arrested Wednesday evening at the overpass about a mile south of the Michigan state line in LaPorte County. They were lodged in the LaPorte County Juvenile Detention Center.

Troopers had boosted patrols in the areas of the incidents and a 911 call reporting objects being tossed over a fence led to the arrests a short time later.

Police say they took 24 complaints from motorists this week about the tossed objects. No one was hurt in any of the crashes.

Police did not say which objects were thrown from the overpass.
