A proposal to delay start times for high school and intermediate school students in South Bend is expected this spring after the school corporation has time to figure out a transportation plan.

A group of fellows at enFocus Inc. is working on figuring out the transportation hurdle, which is the biggest issue involved in the delayed start time proposal, according to the South Bend Tribune.

The fellows are looking at how many students ride school busses and developing a program that would allow parents to opt-out of the bus system. The goal is to create school bus routes that better suit students who use school transportation. With the consolidation, students may end up spending less time on the bus.

More parent input will also be sought before the South Bend Community School Corporation considers delaying start times.
