There is no word, yet, about the cause of a house fire in the 1600 Prairie Avenue.

South Bend Fire crews were called to the home around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the single-story home.

There was an initial report of persons entrapped in the home, so additional ambulances were dispatched, however, the residents were found safely outside the home with no injuries. There were also no reports of injuries to any firefighters.

The fire was brought under control within the first 15 minutes and hot spots checked for.

The Red Cross was requested for the two adults on scene.
