PLAINFIELD, Ind. (AP) — Plainfield police say an armed man has been arrested after he told the crowd at a community forum designed to address online threats that he had a gun in his pocket.

Ronald Kendall of Avon was arrested Tuesday night at Plainfield High School and booked into the Hendricks County Jail on a preliminary charge of carrying a handgun on school property.

Police say Kendall disrupted the forum and alerted the crowd that he had a gun when he wasn’t allowed to ask a question. Officers found a loaded gun in Kendall’s jacket pocket when he was escorted outside and detained.

Kendall told police that he came to the forum armed because of the recent threats against the school.

It’s unclear whether Kendall has a child who attends the school.
