The Indiana Toll Road is banning large semis between the Portage and Angola exits as lake effect snow falls on much of northern Indiana.

The ban begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, and applies to triple trailers, long double trailers, high-profile oversize permit loads and still haulers, according to a tweet from the Indiana Toll Road. The ban will last until 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11.

The Indiana Toll Road was shutdown early Wednesday morning in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 46 after multiple semis were involved in a collision.

High winds of speeds up to 25mph is accompanying the lake effect snow that began Monday night, Feb. 8. Up to 12 inches of snow is expected to fall in some areas by Thursday morning.
