A former Benton Township cop was sentenced Friday, Feb. 19, to 60 days in jail after his vehicle struck and killed a woman while he was responding to a call in September.
Eugene Anderson was also fined $1,700, according to our news partners ABC 57. He was found guilty of moving violation causing death after a three-day trial earlier this month.

Anderson was on his way to a domestic violence call the night of Sept. 20 but didn’t have his lights and sirens on when his squad car hit 48-year-old Kimberly Bedford as she was crossing Pipestone Road near Ravina Avenue in Benton Harbor.
Bedford was pronounced dead at the scene.
Anderson was taken to Berrien County Jail to begin his sentence after the hearing on Friday, but his attorney told ABC 57 that he plans to appeal.
