Trine University to build basketball facility, ice hockey arena

ANGOLA, Ind. (AP) — Trine University in northeastern Indiana has announced plans for a 3,000-seat basketball facility, a 1,000-seat ice arena and to add men’s and women’s hockey next year.

University President Earl Brooks II announced Thursday that the plans for the athletic and event center at the school 40 miles north of Fort Wayne include a six-lane bowling alley, a fitness center and the Trine University Athletic Hall of Fame. The estimated cost is $11.5 million.

The ice arena will include locker rooms, a pro shop, a VIP lounge and two press boxes. The estimated cost is $4.5 million.

Trine officials said the men’s and women’s hockey teams compete in NCAA Division III.
