LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Legislation meant to criminalize posting sexually explicit images on the Internet without the depicted person’s consent soon will be on its way to Gov. Rick Snyder.

The House on Wednesday unanimously approved a pair of bills to subject offenders to fines. The Senate passed the bill previously.

Sponsors of the legislation who want to stop “cyber revenge” or “revenge porn” say the practice is often meant to shame or humiliate the person depicted, and add it can harm their reputation.

Democratic Sen. Steve Bieda of Warren and Republican Sen. Rick Jones of Grand Ledge sponsor the bills.

The state Senate passed a similar package in 2014 but it stalled in the House.
