Deadly Niles crash victim identified as 19-year-old Niles woman

The person who died in a single-vehicle crash in Niles, Mich., on April 8 has been identified.

Angela Briand, 19, of Niles was killed after her vehicle ran off of Briar Road near Portage Road, hit a tree and caught fire, according to Michigan State Police.

Nobody else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Briand was a Lake Michigan College student who spent her free time donating to local homeless shelters, according to her obituary.

A visitation service is scheduled to be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. A Mass of Catholic Burial is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, at the funeral home.
