MIO, Mich. (AP) — Four family members have been sentenced to probation after officials say more than 50 dogs were seized from a home in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula during an animal cruelty investigation.

The Grand Rapids Press reports Bradford Quick, Pennie Quick, Noralea Quick and Danielle Quick learned their punishment Monday. They earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of cruelty or abandonment of 10 or more animals.

The sentence says Bradford Quick can’t own or possess animals again. The others got delayed sentences.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says the dogs were removed in December from the home in the Oscoda County community of Mio. The ASPCA says it’s believed a puppy mill was being operated out of the home and there were unsanitary and overcrowded conditions.
