TRAFALGAR, Ind. (AP) — An Indiana electric cooperative expects to have three more solar farms in operation later this year.
The latest of 10 solar farms that Hoosier Energy is developing is planned for 10 acres along Indiana 135 near the Johnson County town of Trafalgar.
Hoosier Energy renewable energy project developer Josh Cisney tells the (Franklin) Daily Journal that construction should begin within the next month on the $2.5 million project with about 4,100 solar panels.
Cisney says the company is also building solar farms in Monroe and Clark counties this summer. It finished solar projects in Henry, Harrison and Greene counties last year and has three more planned for 2017.
The solar farms are planned to generate power for 18 electrical cooperatives in southern and central Indiana and southeastern Illinois.
