46 chickens, 8 cats, 1 dog killed in Lakeland Animal Clinic fire that destroyed barn

Forty-six chickens, eight cats and a dog died in a large barn fire at Lakeland Animal Clinic in Syracuse on Wednesday, May 18.

The fire was contained to the barn, which was destroyed by the time firefighters extinguished the flames, WSBT reported. The barn and the motorized equipment inside was estimated to be with between $70,000 and $80,000.

At least 50 firefighters from four fire departments worked the scene for more than four hours.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
