Layoff notices given to 500 workers at Diversified Machine in Bristol

Hundreds of workers will lose their jobs beginning next week at Diversfied Machine, which is a division of Chassix, located on County Road 133 in Bristol.

The job losses are due to the company losing its biggest contract, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth. It’s not clear which organization the contract was with.

Diversified’s Director of Operations, Steve McKenzie, notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development through a letter, The Elkhart Truth reported. The letter did not include specifics of when the contract was canceled or where the work is being transferred, but it did indicate that the contract shifted to another company in the United States.

Employees were first notified during a company announcement.

The layoffs begin next week, with more than 270 employees being let go. Additional layoffs will occur from June through October, The Elkhart Truth reported.

A total of 500 hourly and salary employees will lose their jobs, The Elkhart Truth reported.
