Michiana area residents are invited to take part in a family-friendly community art project with artists from ADEC at Potato Creek State Park.

The “Inspired: Summer Art Series” kicks off June 22. Three ADEC artists will be working on paintings from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Peppermint Hill inside the park. Visitors will be able to throw darts at balloons filled with paint attached to canvas.

“The three ADEC artists are impressive, and the art series offers a chance for the public to see the world through the eyes of artists with disabilities,” Michelle Sokol, ADEC’s media communications specialist, said. “The artists — one of which is nonverbal — have learned to express themselves and communicate through their art work.”

Potato Creek State Park visitors will be able to create collages from noon to 2 p.m. July 13 while the ADEC artists work on canvas paintings. The artists will be creating nature-inspired ceramics from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 3, and visitors will be able to craft small items using provided air-drying clay. Those events will also take place at the park’s Peppermint Hill.

For more information, contact the park at 574-656-8186 or ADEC at 574-848-7451.
