Power outages impact thousands after Monday storm

More than 12 hours after a summer thunderstorm brought heavy winds, rains and lightning to Michiana, thousands of people are still without power.

The severe storm that moved through northern Indiana caused damages to trees and powerlines throughout the area.

At the height of the outages, more than 32,000 Indiana Michigan Power customers were without power.

As of 7:20 a.m., the following I&M outages remained:

LaPorte Co., IN 2,199
Madison Co., IN 265
St. Joseph Co., IN 9,862
Berrien Co., MI 6,180
Cass Co., MI 160
St. Joseph Co., MI 129
Van Buren Co., MI 128
IN totals: 12,473
MI totals: 6,597
Total Outages 19,070
