Illinois teenager arrested for shooting death of Elkhart man

An arrest has been made in the shooting death of Brandon Jackson, 24, of Elkhart.

On Friday, July 1, Tyrell Beavers, 18 years old of Plainfield, Illinois, was arrested on a preliminary charge of murder, according to Elkhart Police Sgt. Chris Snyder.

On Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 3:25 AM officers were called to the 200 block of West Garfield Avenue in regard to a shooting, Snyder stated.

Officers arrived and found the front door of the apartment open. Inside the residence, they found Jackson’s body, Snyder stated.

An autopsy was conducted and determined the cause for death to be multiple gunshot wounds and the Coroners Office ruled the death a homicide.

Beavers is currently incarcerated in the Elkhart County Correctional Facility.
